About Whats Up CB

What this site is

Whats Up CB is a community calendar for Pleasure Island: Carolina Beach and Kure Beach, North Carolina. It gathers one-off events, live music, library programs, holiday happenings, weekly bar and restaurant specials, town government meetings and civic-group meetings into one searchable list and calendar.

How the data is collected

Listings are compiled from publicly available sources: Town of Carolina Beach and Town of Kure Beach websites and meeting calendars, the New Hanover County Public Library calendar, the Pleasure Island Chamber of Commerce, event organizers' own pages, venue websites and public business social media pages, and local news outlets used for corroboration. Every listing keeps a primary source link and the date it was last checked.

The current data set has 301 dated listings (265 verified) and 84 weekly listings.

What the badges mean

Verified The details were confirmed on the organizer's, venue's or town's own page, or corroborated by multiple independent sources.

Unverified The listing rests on a single secondary source, a proposed schedule, partial information, or conflicting sources. Unverified listings stay visible with the badge but are kept out of search-engine event data.

Times are Eastern Time. Fields such as time or cost show “Not stated” when the source did not publish them.

Editorial policy

Listings are included based on public information, not payment. Road closures, parking closures and traffic notices are not listed. Any advertising or sponsored placement added in the future will be labeled as such and kept visually separate from listings.

Before heading out

Events get rescheduled, cancelled or moved for weather. Confirm with the organizer through the Source link, especially for government meetings (check the posted agenda) and weekly specials, which change often.

Corrections, new events and contact

Spot a wrong time, a cancelled event, or something missing? Send the event name, date and a link to the organizer's page. Organizers can also use this address to submit events or ask for a listing to be changed or removed.

Email corrections and event submissions [email protected]

Every event page also has a “Suggest a correction” link that pre-fills the listing details.
